What is Funkyplayer?

Funkyplayer revolutionizes the way of controlling your music in iPod or iPhone! You can control your ipod player with a simple turn of your wrist or switch to touchscreen mode when it’s more convenient. Funkyplayer introduces 3D auditory menus, so you can browse your music without looking at your device!

Using 3D auditory menus

Just put headphones on and listen to the 3D menu around you. It is so simple! Imagine that the menu is spread around your head in 360 degrees and you’ll hear the menu item names from the direction you are pointing the device to (or alternatively the part that you are touching the screen). In other words, point the device to the left or touch the left part of your screen and you’ll hear the sound from your left.

Menu item names are read out loud and you can listen to them one by one.

When you hear a menu item just select it and you will be told which part of the menu you entered. The menu logic is the same in the visual and the auditory menu.

Touchscreen and gesture mode

Funkyplayer can be controlled with touchscreen mode or gesture mode. In touch screen mode, menus can be browsed with circular finger sweeps and selection is made by lifting the finger from the screen.

In the gesture mode, hold the device parallel to you arm. Do not try to look at the screen! Instead listen to the auditory menu. Turn your wrist as you would be holding a joystick in your hand and gently make 360 degrees rotation.

Turning the iPhone/iPod to an upright position has the same meaning as moving the finger to the center of the screen. In this position you can select to go to a previous menu level and in touchcreen mode also lift your finger from the screen without any action.

Circular spreading of the artist names

Funkyplayer uses new type of menu design to make all of your songs and artists easily accessible in auditory menus. Initially your full list of artists (songs, etc.) are listed alphabetically in the 360 degrees around you.

For example, by moving your finger from the center towards the upper part of the screen you will hear and see the names starting with that letter A.

By browsing clockwise you’ll find the rest of the artists starting with A and then the one with B and so forth.

By browsing counterclockwise you’ll find names starting with Z. You can even browse around the whole list or bring your finger to the middle where again the full list of artists is instantly spread around you alphabetically.

Menu hierarchy

Funkyplayer starts at Main menu. From the Main menu you can either select Artists, Albums, Songs, or Playlists for choosing a song you want to play, or select Now playing for controlling currently playing music. When a song is selected, Funkyplayer starts playing the song and moves to Now playing menu for music control.
